Nedcargo is investing in battery storage to facilitate the continued growth and automation of its Tiel facility.
Tiel 2026, Nedcargo is investing in battery storage to facilitate the continued growth and automation of its Tiel facility. Due to grid congestion, the available electricity capacity was insufficient for further expansion. With a battery featuring 756 kW of power and a storage capacity of 1,505 kWh, Nedcargo is creating the necessary headroom to invest in new machinery and more efficient logistics processes.
More room for automation
In recent years, Nedcargo has strengthened its position in the logistics of food, beverages, and nutrition. The focus is increasingly shifting toward automation and value-added logistics. The battery makes it possible to deploy stored energy during peak consumption periods (peak shaving). This allows Nedcargo to utilize its existing grid connection more efficiently without immediately requiring a heavier connection.
Tiel as a strategic location
The Tiel facility is a key hub for retail and supermarket logistics within the Benelux and is further developing into a center for beverage logistics. The investment in battery storage supports this development and provides room for further growth.
